NATIONAL CLEAN-UP

“BAYAN KO, LINIS KO” PROGRAM

 

 

CONCEPT:

 

 

  • Nationwide clean-up activities to promote cleanliness in coastal, inland waterways, esteros, creeks, public places, roads and major throughfares
  • To expand clean-up activities during the National Clean Up Month (September) per Proclamation No. 244, Series of 1993 to all LGUs in the country.
  • To encourage volunteerism and foster the participation of all sectors to include government, NGOs/civil society groups, schools, churches and the private sector.
  • To encourage proper waste management by communities or barangays.
  • To operationalize an online, real-time Waste Map which provides the needed information on the location of waste for clean-up.
  • Holding of post-activity summit to report on the metrics/numbers (LGUs participated, number of volunteers, and volumes of waste collected for recycling and proper disposal)

 

 

OBJECTIVES:

 

General Objectives:

  • To strengthen the implementation of Republic Act 9003, otherwise known as the “The Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000”;
  • To promote environmental education and increase awareness on the garbage situation and challenges of solid waste management in the country;
  • To mobilize all sectors of society to participate in clean-up activities;
  • To reinforce the role of the LGUs down to the Barangay level in the segregation and collection of solid waste
  • To complement and strengthen the existing Basura Patrol Program of the EMB.

 

Specific Objectives:

  • To mobilize all Regions in the country for a one (1)-day clean-up activity with the participation of all LGUs and all sectors of society.
  • To generate data for waste mapping.
  • To institutionalize the clean-up in all LGUs every last Saturday of the quarter
